Fork oil what viscosity

  1. I have a 2012 streetfighter and the front suspension was perfect for summer use................................... however i have noticed that it is quite horrid in the cold weather and i have put this down to the front forks feeling quite sluggish in their performance. I have tried playing with the compression and rebound as i set all my own suspension and have done for years but this only helps a little as the turn in suffers.
I have always changed the fork oil to a synthetic 5 weight oil and would like to know what Ducati use as standard, also does anyone know where i can get info on the air gap required please?

  2. Give your local dealer a call, as if its standard info you want most are friendly enough to give it

  3. I thought it was in the back of the owners manual? But maybe not.

  4. Nope it is not mentioned there.

  5. Pretty sure is 7.5W. Don't have the air gap info to hand, but can dig it out tomorrow. Is the bike on Showa or Ohlins?

  6. Thanks Nelly the bike is on Showa units.

  7. From memory it is 7.5W (as said) air gap is 165mm Showa (no spring installed) and 145mm Ohlins (afaik with springs just to make life hard I guess).. I normally run around 120mm if unsure and then tune the dive...

Just to confuse it a little more I think Ducati spec is 155mm
