Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Byza, Sep 28, 2020.

  1. Hi guys,

Been looking a little while and come across this. Thoughts please as I’m no expert, service history is still coming from the dealer.

    It’s got 15000miles, asking $6k, it’s a 2004 999S

    thanks kindly

  4. Yes I believe this is the case.

  5. Has it been in a crash as that nose fairing looks a bit suspect:thinkingface:,also the swingarm is scratched on the O/S.

  7. anything R will hold its value if that matters. whether a 749R is a better ride than a 999s is only something you can answer

originality is key with both those bikes and both look to have been modded. good service history is key and only the 749R's have a deep sump

depending on who you speak to, the post facelift 749 is a more 'reliable' bike for reasons i never understood.

assuming reasonable originality and good service history, then the prices are not silly

be sure to have more than 1 key and the key card if possible. if not, adjust price accordingly.

i just bought a 749s mono in glossy black and im really into it

  8. The only 749 to get the deep sump was the 749R of any year.

  10. Service History won't be possible to determine as it's a Japanese Import by the looks of it, however the Japs are fairly disciplined and usually stick to service schedules, so you should be right, I think I saw this bike on TradeMe, but can't remember if it is from a Dealer or not? If it is you are covered by the Consumer Guarantee Act.
