  1. so it's all over then.. allthough I studied all the crowds involved in the pre and post American election footage intently I just couldn't see Wally anywhere.

  2. The bbc seem to have a love of reporting foreign election campaigns (this one has been going on for a year), i'm convinced that it's just jollies for the reporters at the licence payers expense

  3. Well Done to Barack Obama...

The first Black man to hear the words 'four more years' without them being spoken by a Judge during sentencing. :upyeah:

  4. Hugely relieved that Obama was re-elected. The Americans continue to be full of surprises! Great acceptance speech from a superb communicator. V. disappointed though with the continuous references to 'God' by both contenders.
Never mind a black president, I want to see the first atheist president.

  5. Then you will be waiting a very long time. Americans are as stupid as Arabs.

  6. Very PC today El T

  7. Who's Wally?

  8. I don't think Obama is religious. I just think that he knows that an obviously atheist president would have no chance of being elected.

Thank God (ha!) the free world is going to be spared a misogynist, homophobic, jingoistic, believer president. That was a close shave.
Just don't expect the US to develop a European consciousness any time soon (though they are gradually moving in the right direction now).

  9. true, but the shadow government never changes, and it will take american society about another 200 years to begin to learn about compassion and fairness..a country where a serious illness in the family usually results in bankruptcy, and an official resident can be deported with only 6 weeks notice, irrespective of family and responsibilities, simply for having a business that is struggling and failing to employ 2 americans full time...i know of a person whose wife and he lived there for over 20 years (with two american born kids), who were given their marching orders..had to sell up, bring the kids to england..they lost everything..No, caring, isnt exactly a word that fits into most jingoistic americans vocabulary..When they are owned by China, have gone through their 'inured dog' unpredictable, dangerous and violent era (which will take about a century), then they may begin to learn some humility....a bit like we, and every other once great power did...i jusy hope they get over their arrogance quicker than the british though....we still think were important, and its fking us all up because were so desperate to sit at the top table.

  10. 6 BILLION spent on thier campaigns and they wonder why they are in a ressession yanks are stupid idiots !

  11.

  12. Oh....I spotted him!

    Lots of him!

  13. Here's another top book if you really want to understand the USA and why it doesn't make all that much difference who is in the White House. You can read my review of it and decide if you think it's a good purchase (it is). Washington Rules (American Empire Project): Amazon.co.uk: Andrew Bacevich: Books
