Help needed. Aquired one of the late 750ss ie models (dark but converted to two front discs) and in the process of re vitalizing same. Marked up the front fork heights on the stanchions, removed and had them serviced locally. Like a numpty, I forgot to measure height from top edge of stanchion to top of the steering head yoke ..... and service centre cleaned off the markings I put on both stanchions ! I realise the height is simply down to preference but would appreciate a measurement from a standard bike to make sure I am in the general region of standard whilst I re-assemble everything. had a quick look in the Haynes manual and all it states is to measure the fork height before you remove the forks then replace as was but I think this has been asked before anyway have a couple of pics from the manual gives an idea and one from my bike
Many thanks - noted. Looks to be @ 4.6 cms although the clamps are slightly higher than the stanchions. Silver Fox - please advise the height and I will proceed to re-instal the stanchions on that basis. Patrick
Sorry to be so late Patrick -busy day,mine measure 44cms from the yoke to the flat on the leg not the hex on top,hope this is of help.
