What size is the sprocket nut on the MTS 1100s? Can't get a socket in there due to gear lever/footpeg assembly. I have a 14T to put on. It will have to be a spanner but what size?
Pop over to multistrada.net there's links to a workshop manual to download. "Can't get a socket in there due to gear lever/footpeg assembly. " The gear lever and/or peg will have to come off then as you WILL want to tighten the sprocket nut to the correct torque setting ;-)
Hi Pete 32mm AF but it will probably be very tight ....socket is best with 3 ft breaker bar, your 1100 will have the all in one foot peg bracket so you will need to get it off to be able to get the sprocket off and also the clutch slave cylinder.....there not much room to move. 24mm AF for the Aluminium Bolt into the swing arm Cheers Andy
Thanks. As I don't have the workshop manual can anyone (Android!!) tell me what the Torque settings are for the swing arm bolt and the front sprocket nut. Thanks Pete
Hi Pete, From the manual: On the bike opposite side fix the swingarm shaft (1) with the screw (3) after having lubricated it with recommended grease, and fit the washer (2) between frame and swingarm. Tighten the screw (3) to the torque of 72 Nm ± 5% Check that the splines of the gearbox secondary shaft and the sprocket are in perfect condition. Fit the engine pinion (14) on the gearbox secondary shaft by orienting it as indicated. Install the safety washer (13). Tighten the nut (12) to the torque of 186 Nm ± 5% (Sect. 3 - 3, Frame torque settings). Bend the washer (13).
Done it! The sprocket must have been super glued, araldited, JB Welded and then arc welded on! Managed it though, after a quick call to Android to check the thread direction. Can't wait to try it! Pete
