Hoping someone can help?,,,,,front sprocket on my 2002 st4s moves up and down the gearbox output shaft causing the chain to rub on the tyre or machine its way into the clutch cylinder !!! I can see there is a retaining plate on the sprocket and a groove in the output shaft but you can literally slide the sprocket over the groove ?? Do the retaining plates wear or do they have to be orientated in a specific way to lock the sprocket in place. I can see some damage on the leading edge of the splines next to the groove,, they have become somewhat chamfered,, not terribly but damage nonetheless. Can anyone offer any advice ? Thanks Robert
Sounds like you need a new retainer..............the teeth on them wear, so they eventually cause problems like wot you have......or worse if the sprocket moves outwards when it can fall off. Get two when you get a new one....cheap enough from MotoRapido. Fit the 'cut edge' inwards.......it will be obvious what I mean with a new one in your grubby mitts.
