went to get my front sprocket swapped over today but the lad who normally does work on my bikes couldn't get the old one off my question is what do you have to take off to get the sprocket off or do you have to do split the chain?
Did you take it to Spanns? Whenever I've had a problem with something, they usually get things unstuck for me.
On my SS, I just removed the two retainer bolts and the retainer plate.......slackened the axle nuts and kicked the wheel to the left.........didn't touch the adjusters. .......the pulled the sprocket off the shaft with the chain still around it.......then dropped the sprocket out of the chain... ...skewing the wheel made the chain to be slack enough......(adjusted correctly though) AL
Have you got a clutch holding tool? May seem an odd question but before I'd took the clutch apart fitted the holding tool to lock the motor and voila the sprocket comes off pretty easily.
