1200 Front Tyre Change - Torque Settings 2013 Skyhook

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by iainhwilson, Jul 12, 2015.

  1. Have changed the rear tyre - big socket and breaker bar to get wheel off (and wife on rear seat and brake) . Oponeo sourced tyres (excellent price and service).

There are a number of recommendations on the forums for front axle and pinch bolt torques for Skyhook suspension. Unfortunately my manual doesn't work on my Mac!

    Could someone kindly confirm:

    Front axle 63Nm
Sachs Skyhook forks pinch bolt = 10Nm

Should these be greased / anti seized before tightening please?

    Thanks

  2. Iain, Bit late in responding, hope this helps. Yes your torque settings are correct, no anti-seize on any parts but the manual says you have to grease the axle nut prior to fitting then tighten up +/- 5%

    Front axle
Fit the washer on the end of the axle.
Grease the thread and the underside of the head of the axle lock nut, then screw it on.
Tighten the nut to a torque of 63 Nm ± 5%.

    Pinch Bolts
Before tightening the screws, lower the bike to the ground and push up and down on the handlebar to load the suspension; so the fork legs will become properly seated onto the wheel shaft.
Tighten the screws to a torque of 10 Nm ± 5%, following a 1-2-1 sequence.

  3. Thanks so much! Tyre changed!
