Selling the top end and big bore kit of my 998 s engine. The whole engine will be broken up, so please let me know if you are interested in other parts. (lightened crank, mag cam covers, mag RS side cover, sandcast cases, side covers, slipper clutch, etc.) I will only keep the Ti rods and the RS gearbox This lot includes: - Barrels rebored to 102mm by Kamna in Germany - High compression Pistal pistons to match - 998 s heads with full gas flowing by Chris @ CJS racing - Those also have 749 R cams for higher lift and 749r rockers to match - Larger 42 mm intake valves - Different guides - Racing spark plugs - Head gasket supplied as is, new ones available from Kamna in 102 bore This was hardly used at all as I changed my plans after spending thousands getting this work done. Kamna charge EUR 1360 for exchange of barrels and Pistal pistons. Here you get the lot + all the work to match the heads to the bigger bore and higher performance parts in the heads. The engine is good for 160 / 170 bhp at the wheel depending compression level. Looking for GBP 1,700 for the lot Chris can be contacted for more information. Photos below to show how little use this has had.
interested in some of the bits. barrels and pistons only magnesium cam covers (only if dont need recoating to make mint) pm me phill
I didnt want to go the whole route because I havent the confidence in the stock cases to handle huge power. I was just mulling over the HC kit alone and a remap. just wondering have those piston crowns been machined on the inlet side ???
I am not looking to separate the Big bore kit from the Heads. The heads have been tuned to work with the 102 bore. The Pistons as you spotted have been machined around the inlet valves for the bigger 42mm valves as well as the higher lift. Pistal pistons have good amount of material to allow that (hence why chosen). So heads+cams go with the barrels and pistons as a job lot. If somebody it interested in the lot but gearbox and rods, please get in touch with offers, I am happy to sell in one go though obviously I know how much the bits are worth so the offer would have to be decent.
Why the change of what? Bike? I used to have a pretty much 998 RS with this engine in. Got annoyed with the fact that to finish it, it was more and more unaffordable RS parts for the tiniest bit of hose, tank internal, etc. Worst then expensive to crash, probably irreplaceable too. And not using it very much until you get everything together. All this for using a few times a year given that i hardly manage to do trackdays these days. So decided to chop the 998 which was the most valuable. Keep a 996 with SPS engine and frame, rest all RS (still to be built) and get a 1098 for road and track which i thourougly enjoy. Oh and with the saved cash I could do a chimney for winter, get the bathroom redecorated and even get myself a BMX which rekindles me with my youth, works my fitness bloody hard, and get my kid out with me. Sorry for the long winded explanation but this was a bit like a long process of fighting an addiction (to RS motorcycles)... So engine is going, 998 RS frame is going, Brembo monoblocs are going, MF3s and probably M800 Motec are going, 996 RS yokes are goine, must have some wheels as well, etc. Forks, 998 RS yokes, tank, fairing, shock, swingarm, etc gone already
no good to me im afraid my 999s cases wont last long with that spec. with the big bore kit alone and about 145~150 rear it will last i feel with the extra power from the heads and cams it wont last 2 minutes and crack. interested in magnesium covers though im not clear if your selling them seperate in light of what you said. I have a brand new pair of stock covers laying around
It depends how far you push the compression. This engine was up to about 170bhp on a dyno in Bristol. But you really had to run on 97+ fuel You can set up with slightly lower compression and you'll get into the 150/160 Cam covers are no good to you. 998 have standard coils, 999 have stick coils with the coils attaching to the cover. Those are 998 / 996R covers. p
