Only Americans, or Nichols, could deliver Me a set of locknuts that ( I think) are 35mm. Metric threads with imperial nuts. What a bunch of twats. If anyone could enlighten me as to the af/unc/ imperial size so that I can build my bike back up. I'm well pissed off, as you can imagine.!!
Densel, not sure exactly what your issue is but do you mean these Nichols Sport Bikes | Products | Flywheel Nuts if so you just need to measure across the parallel faces of the nut to get the spanner size in mm (Across the Flats), I would recommend a single hex deep socket due to the torque required. If the thead is the correct size to fit you just need to go and get the correct sized socket from a tool shop. Whilst most metric nuts and bolts are machined to standard sizes based on the thread diameter and pitch, for specialist applications that standard may not be appropriate so they are manufactured (as in the link) to fit the application. If you need help to identify thread size, pitch, the difference between UNC, UNF, Metric, BSF, BSW and the size or type of the nut or bolt head then google is quite useful. 35mm is far from a common metric thread size as 36mm is the more often used standard, 35mm x 1.5mm and 35mm x 2mm are used occasionally however. Are you sure this is a 35mm thread or is the nut size 35mm? Nichols' stuff is usually pretty good quality and are supposed to be quite good at preventing the damage caused by the nuts coming undone due to poor manufacturing tolerances. I've used Nichols stuff before, I had some Ti engine bolts, it's good stuff, but yes Yanks are weird!
Hi Denzil the Ducati. I am a mechanic myself and have been for the last 26 years. I have never come across a metric thread with a imperial nut sizing. Usually in the uk, we have metric threads, with metric nuts. I am aware how to measure a nut via the flats and it was only when I was rebuilding my bike after waiting months for the parts as per my previous posts, that I des covered this odd sizing. I tried to buy a extra deep socket from my local store and them realized the odd sizing. I would have thought that Nichols might have mentioned that fact, as hey cost me £65 and I waited 2 weeks for them. I was pretty pissed off, as I had plans ( involving riding my bike) and have to wait till I get to work to get the correct size nut. Forgive me if my comments sounded racist, but I am pretty pissed off as I was expecting a 30mm nut, as per the original and I think the lack of information about this crucial sizing was slack. Still no definitive answer. All my tools are at work so missed the first sunny day since before Christmas and my first ride with my newly qualified girlfriend. Not happy.

I enquired from Radiantz re there LED lights. As all their measurements are in imperial in general, but the one I wanted was missing.... So I asked for the missing dimension in mm and they couldnt work it out. Came back to me with the height of the light unit overall as 0.9mm lol.
Lol, I had the same experience but have the right sockets to fit. I always wondered why the bleed nipple in the titanium banjo that I bought from the states didn't quite feel right on a 8mm spanner but was too big for a 7mm...
Ordered a 35mm deep socket. Arriving today. 1 and 3/8 bollocks. Were in the 21 century, not medieval times. Will let you know if it fits.
