Fuel Leak After Fuel Filter Change

  1. Hi

Swapped the fuel filter and installed new O-ring.

All seemed OK last night, but when I went in to look this morning I had a small amount of fuel in the bottom of the bucket it is sat over.

Does not look like a slow drip from the O-ring though, could it be the quick release valves not resetting/refilling where I'm lifting the tank up and moving it around to look underneath?

    Thanks.

  2. Is this for a 748-9** style of tank. In which case it could be you have nicked an O ring on one of the quick release couplings.

Plenty of grease and put them in squarely is the best way of fitting them, but they still wear or get nicked sometimes.

  3. Sorry, for a 999.

Used Vaseline when putting it in.

If it was nicked, would I have a constant drip-drip?

  4. dry it off and switch on the ignition. the pump will prime and pressurize the system. you will notice where its leaking from then

  5. gave it a good shake and it seemed to come from one of the quick release valves. Dried it off and put some paper and no drips, yet........

  6. For the few pence it costs it's probably worth buying a couple and also a few more to keep on standby.

  7. For the early 999 I think they are part of the fuel pump unit. the fuel hoses get held in by a clamp and the quick release valves are inside the tank/pump.

  8. Coming from the right (fairly sure) of the 2 large holes. Not a constant drip, suddenly lets 1/2 an egg cup out.

Question is ,if the fuel lines are connected, would it matter?

    99% sure oring is fine.

It didn't leak before replacing oring so wondering if having it upside down a few times has resulted in it not seating right.

  9. so, plugged it all back, primed the pump a few times, make a funny noise on a new filter, no leaks so far......
