So yesterday afternoon my wife and myself set off from home on my 1200DVT touring 2016 model, all loaded up heading for Portsmouth to then sail to Bilbao as part of 9 days away taking in the Catalunya Moto GP. However less than 50 miles into the trip on the M1 I feel a slight judder before having the left side of the bike and my leg covered in unleaded. A coast to the hard shoulder and stop only to discover fuel pumping out from under the left side of the fairing. A 2 hour wait at the side of a busy motorway then ensued before being recovered home, and the bike now on its way to Ducati Leeds for repair and flights booked to Barcelona!!!!!!!!! Anyone else had a similar fuel problem?
I know there was a recall on fuel tank seals on the DVT model earlier in the year as they replaced my tank, seals and sender unit before I picked the bike up so you may have had a duff one of those.
Apparently the fuel pump had failed completely. A new one was ordered from Italy and bike back on the road within a week. Service dept at Ducati Leeds said it was not something they had come across before!!! Unfortunately I now have that seed of anecdotal "Ducati unreliability" firmly planted in my mind
