When I got my 998, one of the ‘improvements’ I wanted to do was to replace the plastic nut holding the fuel level sensor, which has a reputation of cracking with age. So I dutifully acquired a metal replacement from China. Removed the sensor and found the wiring badly cracked/exposed! Ordered a replacement sensor from MotoRapido (go-to for parts) Disassembled the pins from the connector to remove the ‘old’ nut and replaced it with the new one. Put everything back. Happy chappy! Now I find out that the ‘old’ nut on the new sensor was *metal*! And I needn’t have bothered! Have Ducati recognised the plastic nut failing at last? Has MotoRapido been super-helpful and given me an upgrade? Was the 998 sensor *always* metal-nutted? Feeling rather foolish…
