Hi all,my fuel sensor has finally stopped working after 5 years of ownership on my 2010 multistrada 1200s touring.so I’ve had a good run !!. £152 from Ducati for a new one (crazy). Not sure if it’s the first one on the bike to be replaced but very much doubt it. been doing a little research on the sensor and found out that the ecu needs to be plugged in at Ducati when the sensor is changed for it to work on the 2010 /11 model ?. if the sensor has been changed before and the ecu done, will it work if I plug a new sensor in or does it have to be done every time a new one is fitted ???. Can it be done on the software you can get free if you can plug your laptop in to the bike,if so is there anyone in the Swansea/Cardiff area who can do this. Thanks. All advice appreciated Paul
From 2013, the fuel sender used and subsequent updates needed a firmware update to the dash and BBS control units. I'd guess, your bike already has it..... there's not many MTS running around on the old senders. There should be a part number on the lead from the sender. If you post it up, I can check for you. The old number was 59210201F. Th eupdate in 2013 was 59210211B and has since gone thru a few updates and is now at G. If you need the updates, it's a dealer visit. It can't be done with anything else.
Yes, that's the original sender... Must be one of the last in existence LOL It'll need the firmware update to work with the later senders. Update shouldn't cost anything, but that might just be me It's only a 10 minute job with the diagnostics.
I should send it back to Ducati for them to take it apart and learn something lol. Thanks for your help Nelly. Will have to find a Ducati dealer willing to do it for free in wales lol.
