What’s the realistic fuel range on a pikes peak? Riding an Enduro and the 30 litre tank makes you just forget about fuel stops??
Just under 60 minutes once, Fleet Services to Honiton.... I was late. Brimming to Fumes ... ran out on the forecourt ..... (122 miles). Normally about 150-165 miles. I ride it like I stole it...... responsibly though.
You can get 200 miles if you need to but around 170 if you crack on. But I have never when doing these miles refilled more than 18.5 litres.
I never cracked 200 miles. Never really got near. Used to get 145-150 to reserve light and would then start looking.
isn't the 1200 enduro the same engine as the pikes peak? if you're getting over 300 from 30l shouldn't you be able to get over 200 from 20l?
The big tanks on the Enduro and other such bikes, do spoil you. My dad was flabbergasted when my reserve light came on at 120 miles on the SMT. He was able to do 300 Mile plus days without worrying on his GS.
riding style is going to take a massive difference though. i got 120 miles on the hyper before the light when on a road trip, but commuting i was lucky to get 95. the multi tank is 4l bigger than the hyper so confident it will do well on a trip
From my experience and whilst I do appreciate that it's very much down to the style of riding, from pottering, relatively speaking, around town, to riding at times like one of this group (A-C) above has described it, 'riding like I've stolen it', I consistently seem to get pretty much, 9-10 miles per litre. Not difficult to achieve, I've found and that has been the same with a 2010, 2014 and now 2108 bike, which admittedly is still being 'run-in', although now certainly being 'opened-up', since 1st service.
Tony... I may be a little heavier than you and it varies massively on riding style. On my 998 I'd get xx MPG (can't remember what), when I used to go training for my advanced test with a police instructor (friend of a friend) I would get over double.... I kept telling him "we need to stop for fuel", eventually he'd find a station; when I was expecting to be pushing the bike at any moment. When filling up it would be less than half empty.....
Please bear in mind I’m still running it in. But went for a ride through the Norfolk/Suffolk mountain range this morning. Just cruising between 60-70 plus a few overtakes but pushing 60mpg if the computer can be believed!! I’m sure I could easily half that though. The bike is a dream to ride other than the bloody wind noise
It’s just the wind noise it howls through my Ducati tour x like a bloody banshee. Seems to make no difference at all we’re I position the screen. I may have to resort to earplugs, but I really struggle wearing them whilst riding.
I wear a TourX and a mini carbon Pikes Peak screen... fine up to about 130-135 then my neck feels like it might snap at any moment. Don't go any faster... the peak half came off, crashed into the visor and made that come undo... any very very scary at those speeds... thought I'd hit a bird at first.
When making progress with others a week or so ago I did 104 miles on just over a tank full. With fuel going up daily I shall restrain from making progress as quick in future.
That's worse than mine!!! Albeit I was just at full pelt for the M3 and A303. You must have been up and down the box a lot.
