I’m looking for a set of fully floating cast iron discs to suit my 916. Anyone got a set that aren’t too slack they don’t need anymore?
Got 3 pairs of Cast-iron discs under my bench, all the carriers are rotationally worn beyond MOT limits. Not checked the discs for thickness.
Good shout that, bobbin kits are still available if the OP’s carriers are still sound. Just changed the bobbins on my 748RS, 15mm offset cast iron discs. Andy
Spot on re: "if carriers are still sound" , sadly they have often worn in sympathy, got loads myself.
I made some for the early Snowflake discs, made of 7075 aluminium. much tougher than the early brembo discs and I have swapped mine out and kept the outer discs. I have 4 pairs left, if anyone is interested.
Here is the minimum wear from the 748/916 workshop manual and 3.5mm is the minimum thickness for cast iron discs and 4.5 for stainless.
What years is that covering ? My 2002 748R’s original cast iron disc carrier is stamped MIN TH 4mm. Andy
I will get my discs measured and will be interested if they have enough meat left in them. Does anyone have an idea of cost for bobbin kits if I need some?
