FYI - windy backside...

  1. So, little to my knowledge, the boot in the 1098S with the seat cowel is a rather windy sod...

Went to see a friend on Friday night, 15 miles, brisk country roads. Before I set off, stashed my usual, bank card, driving licence, tobacco, papers, filters, lighter and my ipod (incase I break down and become very bored). Also, 25 quid in notes for a few cokes and a bit of food...

Turn up, £25 gone! Not to be seen ANYWHERE! Yep, must have been sucked out through those 2 holes that the seat uses to lever into.

So, annoyed, I use my card, on the way home, again, brisk ride, great smile regardless of this costing me a tank of fuel prior.

Pulled up, go to empty the boot, the force of the wind in the tiny boot was powerful enough to unwrap my coiled earphones from around the ipod, suck them out with such force it ripped them from the 3.5mm jack!!!!

What the hell!!! So yea, don't put anything light, small or expensive in their... So annoyed, £60 headphones :(

Think my insurance will cover it? No excess afterall haha.

Total loss: £85... For what? Using the 'boot' for it's intended function? What a joke.

  2. Top tip - get one of the little "clip-lock" plastic food boxes from Tesco. They make them just big enough to put a mobile phone in. Then put that in the "boot"...
Annoying that you have to do that on a modern, supposedly well designed motorcycle - but they only cost about £3.00 and they are totally waterproof and great for stashing things in : stops rain getting in and expensive things getting out !
    :)

  3. Yea, did that on Saturday, one with the 4 clips around the 4 sides. Had one that fit perfectly. Just cram most of my stuff in there, bar the bacci stuff/fag packet, doubt they will be any more than blown around.

  4. I do the same as you with my 848. Never had any issues. Not going to tempt fate though. Tonight all will be bagged up!

  5. Matt it might be directly proportional to definition of brisk ;)

  8. Do they make carbon ones? Dont want to add unnecessary weight :upyeah:

  9. I usually keep all my stuff in a ziplock
bag in the seat unit, works a treat.
any other stuff goes in a bumbag...its a ducati one so it doesnt look as bad

  10. Oh god... Bum bags...
