Galfer Discs

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Cream_Revenge, Nov 29, 2016.

  1. Hi

Got Galfer discs on the T9, do they have to go on certain sides on the front, i.e. is there a left and a right? Or is either side OK? Stupidly I mixed them up. Both look exactly the same and I see no arrow showing direction of travel.

    Cheers

  2. should be ok to go on either way mate unless they got a specific pattern on them.

  3. I don't know but I'd check with Galfer to be sure

The only reason for saying this is I've put on 3 different pairs of discs, from 2 different manufacturers, onto bikes over the past 3-4 years and every pair although looking completely identical in every way have always been marked for left and right.

Its beyond me why this is, but being the dummy I am I just obey the instructions and do what I'm told

  4. Where the discs marked though? I can't see anything on mine, look identical.

  5. The discs sets I installed either had a left or right on the packaging or the discs themselves were marked L or R on them with a marker pen
The discs weren't stamped, if that's what your getting at, so maybe it means nothing.
    It still nags me why.
As I said no clue...................measuring them with a caliper or placing them side by side they looked absolutely identical, sizes and hole pattern, as far as I could see.
Look it might be complete utter bollocks, I have no idea why they were handed, but as it clearly indicated one goes here, the other there, then I thought might as well do as instructed.

Maybe somebody who knows what he's talking about will come on, @cookster is probably quite correct and I'm causing you grief for no reason.

If I have I apologize, I hate when I cannot see a reason for this sort of thing, but I just thought I'd flag it up

  6. Nice looking discs, although personally I'm not a big fan of the wavy type, however that's personal preference and it'd be a dry old world if all liked the same stuff.

Be interested to know what the outcome is. I might fire off a question to one of the suppliers to ask the same question now you've reminded me

Here are the pair on the Guzzi 1100

  10. I've sent a mail to ISR to ask why they specifically marked their discs left and right.
It also puzzles me as the dimensions for the drawings were identical
If I get a reply then I'll post up.
Beyond my comprehension.......................glad your sorted and sorry for messing you about

  11. Look at the drill pattern, I've got some EBC ones with a similar pattern and they are handed L&R

  12. @Tobytyke you are quite correct

Got a reply from ISR and they stated that the reason they were handed was due to the hole pattern. The other pair of non-ISR discs I installed were similarly drilled with a specific hole pattern

@Cream_Revenge as your discs don't have holes then the discs can go on any side.

Large slice of humble pie for OJ!!! :Sorry:

  14. I thought it might be due to the Coriolis effect?
