Does anyone know where this is and can a duff one trigger the EML on the dash to stay on? Would a duff or missing odometer cable do the same?
Is the MIL on permanently? If so hold the left dash button down whilst turning ignition on. Keep the button held down, the dash will say EFI and then display fault code(s) in format **.* Post the fault code here
My 999 has trouble understanding it is in "neutral" so can refuse to connect the starter motor. A little "forward/back" shuffle of the rear wheel with ignition ON and the neutral light comes on.
I've yet to ride my 999, but it's exactly the same on the bench. If I don't notice the neutral light isn't on it won't start. For the benefit of the OP, I've had the EML on several times whilst I've been working on the bike, and each time it ended up being related to the state of the battery.
For Neutral problems try dropping the gear shift lever down slightly. You should find a position that suits you and gives a more positive change.
at doni tomorrow will give this a go yes its on all the time annoyingly it was at baines racing he said it was because there was no odo cable attached. dave wood racing said it was because of the gear position sensor (did he mean tps?). im not confident in either so ill post the code and also order my own diag stuff
this is the badboy that mine is missing https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313783717932?hash=item490ef7902c:g:peAAAOSwewRhr2Zh
Did it have the speedo sensor cable fitted last time you used it? If so, it would have likely had the engine light on. Did it perform ok on that event? If so, ignore the light.
Nope i bought it without it so the MIL has always been on i think i need to buy the cable clear codes then see if it pops on again by then ill have my own diagnostic jobby hopefully
