1200 DVT Good Value Chain And Sprockets

  1. My 2015 DVT needs a new chain. The OE chain has done 16,000 miles but I recently discovered a hole in the Scottoiler feedpipe somewhere near the swingarm. I've no real idea how long it has been bleeding onto the ground but it has definitely shortened the life of the chain.

I did some searching for a replacement. You can pay silly prices, especially if you want fancy sprockets and carriers, but a reasonable price for a DID ZVMX Gold kit was around £208. Then I found a deal on ebay, from M&P, that I couldn't believe. Whilst they had a DID VX set at £169.99, I wanted a ZVMX as the VX is slightly lower spec and isn't recommended for bikes above 900cc. I then found this:

I couldn't believe they'd sell the better chain at £50 less, so I messaged them. This is their reply:
Hello the prices reflect the stock level on the kits. The ZVMX chain kit has the higher grade chain but due to the amount in stock is being sold at a cheaper price

Their sprockets are pattern ones they have made and I was told they've sold them for 20 years and had no problems with them.

If you need a new chain and sprockets take advantage before they change their minds! FYI I have no connection or commercial interest in M&P. I just like to pass on a good deal when I see one.

  2. I think @MaDProFF has just done his.

I bought a chain that was for a gsxr1000 (same spec as multi) for about £70 off eBay, but haven't had to change sprockets. Good opportunity to go 42t rear, makes quite a difference imho, just means you need a 110 link chain (std is 108)

  3. Afam worth a look also :upyeah:

  4. I went to get it from https://www.performanceparts-ltd.com but Dealer had an account so they bought it direct and fitted. (not got the bike back yet though, just not had time to go get it. You will have to phone them though as they not list the 42t on the site, I did get the impression though supersprox were not making any more 42t I might be wrong though.

  5. I have always good spec DID kit, but due to unavailability currently running with Afam kit. Which is far stronger and longer lasting. Done about 15000 miles on it so far, only needed 3 adjustments so far, loads of life left, will be my default chain kit in future,
