For bikers, this coming Sunday 1st April is usually the best of the Goodwood Breakfast Club days. "Anything but the Car" is the theme and it attracts bikes as far as the eye can see, as well as almost anything on wheels which isn't technically a car. It opens at 8.00 am and goes on till noon. The official web site is here. The weather looks like it will be good and I will be leaving Weybridge with a mate at about 7.00 am getting down for bacon butties shortly after it opens. If anyone wants to join up, we will stop off at the BP garage on the A3 between Ripley and Guildford around 7.15 and then on down through Milford, Haslemere and Midhurst. And back home for Sunday lunch!
Hope to ride to this but will be starting of from Eastbourne . Anyone else from this part of the woods planing on going?
Planning to be there as long as it's dry - although it doesn't look like we'll be baking in our leathers. Great morning out but agreed Tim you need to be there early, as it's all over and done with by midday. Hope to meet up there or mebbe en route with some locals. Hugh - can meet up with you if you fancy a detour, as I won't be going to down the A27. There are some great roads to get over there if you want to join me/us. By the way folkies -watch out for plod and cameras. Petworth can be a fave location for them.
Sort of thinking about 7:15 ish at Shell garage B Hill. Mebbe pick up others at Washington Triumph 7:45 ish then down via Storrington, Pulborough, Petworth? Any other locals up for this? Happy to be a bit flexy on time but you need to arrive 8:30 ish methinks. cheers K
Hmmm think I might struggle for 7:15 on a Sunday mate, if that is the case then I may have to meet you there mate. If your plans change let me know. N.
Ok so it looks like a plan ....7:45 at Washington Triumph it is. Except for any Hillians or others who wanna start from here.
Hmmm you'll be having an early start then. Weather down here forecasted to stay dry but a tad cooler on Sunday than of late. Just remember that it's all pretty much done and dusted by late morning and all finished by midday. Lots of nice routes to get there e.g dropping down from Midurst or Petworth. Doing the M25, M23, A27 is probably the quickest but not really interesting. Afterwards there's the always the option to stop off at Bury Hill on the A29 north of Arundel for a cuppa.
Just had a thought! It's exactly 44.8 miles front door to circuit for me, so the the round trip is a tank of petrol, with a bit to spare. I haven't had to fill up car or bike in the last few days so I don't know the problems, but reading the newspapers it seems that the whole of the UK is running dry thanks to panic buying. So, assuming I fill up before Sunday morning, no problem. May I suggest anyone going does the same!
Petrol stations here still got some juice, filled up today when got back from Pro Twins so am ok for Goodwood n back on Sund. Some of them round here have signs that say no diesel, but it seems to vary from place to place. Having said that, there aren't many fuel stops around Goodwood.
Blimey folkies, better get yer thermals out if venturing down to Goodwood! They're forecasting about 3 degrees at 7am tomorrow. Not to worry though, it's going to be about 7 degrees by 10am. Brrrr.
Im trying to make it, even if on car just so see some faces as bike still in bits. So might see you guys tomorrow
Had a good trip down on the ST4S although it was V cold in the morning frost!! Did spot another grey/red ST4S parked on the grid, was that you?!!! Also s nice Panigale and Desmosedeici there too. Didn't see anybody from the forum this time but may see you at Box Hill.
Some of us wuz there....I met up with Tim and later on bumped into John. Next time we can swap mobile numbers and meet up. It was certainly a bit chilly first thing...the bike was showing 3 degrees when I left home and Tim said it was even colder when he started off. It certainly warmed up later and I called in at Bury Hill on the way home ...saw a couple of Dukes there (black 749 / 999) but didn't spot the owners. Got back home in time to clean the bike (sans hosepipe) then put it away .....for what looks like the indefinite future based on the forecast for next week!
Cold! You're not kidding Ken. My temp never went above 2 all the way down. Had to stop three times just to get some feeling back in my fingers. However, it turned into a lovely morning and if you kept in the sun, really not bad at all. Saw a big contingent of Moto Rapido bikes turn up including a Panigale: Stunning! All in all, well worth getting up at 7.00am for.
