Whilet saving for a dyno tune I want to try and improve the running of my Hyper 1100....Mivv headers, Termi twins, DP ECU +9 fuel trim (Which helped 3-4k rpm no end) I've balanced the throttle bodies with my carbtune (using the air screws as suggested) but it means one is about a full turn out extra than the other (which can't be good) The idle is rather lumpy and a bit jerky low down so to my point.... I will now use the centre TB screw to balance the TB''s but what would be better for the idle mixture ? Gas tester pro or colortune ? I've read about the colortune using the flame colour for setting but how does that equate to the 4-5% Co2 Ducati quote ? Do our bikes prefer a slightly richer/leaner mixture ? If anyone has used either and could throw some knowledge my way I'd be grateful....
I have a colourtune but havent used it yet. 14mm bike version. Bought it to tweak the pc3 on my SSie.
Surely someone on here has had use of either ? Oh well.....think I'll bite the bullet and try the cheapest one first
I have tried the Gastester to set my 749 fuelling and didn't find it very helpful to be honest. The CO reading fluctuates quite a lot and that makes it difficult to set the fuelling correctly. I made an improvement with the gastester as a guide though, at least I could roughly see what was going on. Following on from this I tried a lambda in the exhaust, screwed into the small boss kindly put there by Ducati, results using an Wideband AFR gauge and probe were better again. Ultimately though the timing needed to be tweaked to achieve smooth running and idle and this is beyond what I can do at home, Chris at CJS dyno tuned my 749s after being checked over and serviced by Louigi Moto. The difference now is night and day. If I were to do this again I would be straight to CJS's dyno, it was a good learning experience though
Think I'll try the colortune and balance my TB's properly.... I can understand taking it to a tuner to get sorted but id rather have a go and see if I can get it running OK beforehand so if things go awry after I have a half decent chance of tweaking it myself..... Cheers
Yeah, that's why I did what I did with the gadgets. Its good to learn a bit. The 749s is very fiddly to set up so you may have good results. Never know until you try
