Halfords Trade Card.

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Stu848, Jul 5, 2020.

  1. Morning all, after working on my parents car until 2 this morning they need a new battery so hoping to collect one today and only Halfords have one in stock, I can't believe the price of batteries and seen people saving quite a lot on them recently thru the trade card.

I subscribed probably at least 8 months ago but never received my card. I know El T & Rob will sort this out but before ordering it is possible to use someone else's card/number while I haven't got mine today?

    Thanks
    Stu.

  2. I’d lend you mine mate but I’ve lost it. If someone is willing, they could order it for you online and you pop in and collect it in store.

  8. You have to show them the card or registered details now. Because of people sharing the same card number probably at different locations.

  9. Before lockdown I had to show my card and sign a receipt for them

  10. I lost my card a couple of years ago, luckily I registered it online at the Halfords website, I can order online and collect from store with my discount, so if you have a card make sure you set it up online.

  11. I bought a new battery for the focus that was listed as £92 but showed the card at the till and the price dropped to £47. The super subscriber option of £15 is worth it once it starts up and running again

  12. i just got a "new" Yuasa YTX14-BS from Halfords, and it's great to get £5 discount of course, however... buyers need to be aware of possible stock sitting now, as sadly it seems their turnover might be much reduced compared to 5/6 years ago. You can check the datestamp inside the top cardboard box flap - mine is March 2024 and it was as flat as a pancake. o_O
..I wouldn't mind this if i knew that the acid had only just been dropped but to think this has potentially sat for 7 or more months without a top-up charge means there's a good chance that the battery is already "compromised". Yes, there is a guaranteed for 12 months but we all know on here that a battery can last two to three years and more if looked after whereas this will probably fail at 1 year and a day knowing my recent luck.

  13. I got one on here...gotta say ive saved a shit load using the card....last saving was a battery for our smax....supposed to cost about 130 got it for 80. Before that their top end trolley jack....at the time 200 - got it for 130....literally everything ive bought has had a good discount...

  14. I too have saved a considerable amount over the last few years with my discount card.

The discount brings them down to similar prices to more independent motor factors on some things, but with the additional advantage of them being open 7 days a week and late into the evening.

Their Professional range of tools are also great quality with a good guarantee.

Yes, Batteries is something I've saved on, the huge lump of a thing in my discovery is cheaper at Halfords than buying on line.

Although they have just closed my closest store, Waterlooville.

  15. Is it still possible to obtain a discount card?

  16. Unfortunately not through the forum. When covid happened Halfords stopped issuing them and despite umpteen requests asking if they'd reinstate the scheme, they wouldn't do it.

    Sorry. I did try hard.

  17. even if you haven't got a card, don't forget that they have their "won't be beaten on price" policy.

  18. You can get your own trade card, go online and check the list of acceptable trades, and apply for it online, select the store you wish to collect it from

I've had a trade card for many years, saved a fortune

It's funny when you get to the checkout, and they try and push their Motorists Club membership, and you tell them that you have a Trade Card, they reply with you don't need this then :joy:
