V4 Handlebar Bits, What’s Missing?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by ymfb, Aug 31, 2025 at 10:37 AM.

  1. On Friday riding back from Gloucester and close to home I noticed the bolt holding the right hand bar weight & hand guard hanging out by several inches. I tried screwing it back in but it had collapsed/disassembled inside. This morning I managed to pull part out with a magnet and the brass coloured bit by luck. I can see inside the handlebar what I assume is the other half of the brass piece and assume somewhere beyond that a threaded nut of some kind.

Has anyone got any tips on retrieving the bits inside without removing the handlebars ?

Has anyone got an exploded view of the assembly?

    Thanks

  2. Think the missing brass bit looks like the piece you have and is threaded so acts a jam nut when you tighten the bolt.

  3. I’m assuming the missing part has dropped into your bars.

  4. If you slacken off the bolt on the other side of the handlebar it should slide out. Then you can see the assembly and then maybe lay the bike over on the side where you are missing a bit or blow it through or maybe push something through to poke the missing bit out ???

  5. IIRC - I had this happen a while ago on a 1200. There is a second brass part that looks the same but is threaded still in the bar. Firstly put the bars on full lock with the RH pointing downward and vibrating / tapping the bar "might" dislodge it. If not (in my case) then I took the LH side off and fed a piece of fuel tube pipe down through the bar and finally managed to push it out.

  9. Bingo !

Thanks for the suggestion. I used a piece of round flex and after a bit of wiggling the second brass bit popped out, both sides reassembled and job done.

    Thanks for all the replies.
