Has Anyone Fitted Stick Coils To A Non Stick Coil Engine?

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by ducati dad, Oct 3, 2018.

  1. As part of my project bike, I am using a 1098 dash/loom and ecu with a 888 engine.

I am looking to fit the 1098 type stick coils. These have three wires going to the connectors.

Are there any stick coils that can be used in this application that will be the correct length and top seal?

    Ta, Mick

  2. Mick,
You'll need to see what the resistance of them is and then look to see what other coils of the correct length share that resistance.

the top seal can be interchanged as it's just a rubber ring, You may find that the 1098 ones will be adequate. or failing that buy an O-ring to do the same job and create the seal.

Something to note, Ducati themselves moved away from stick coils on the panigale. Why stick coils out of interest?

  3. I ran a HT lead with cap out the end of the stick coil. Worked a treat.
