Headlamp bucket and engine case painting

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by DoctorW, Oct 10, 2013.

  1. Hi. Am thinking of cleaning up my 749 and understand I can paint or powder coat the headlamp bucket no probs.
The engine casing is fine at the mo, although the front cylinder (up by the front wheel) is a bit cruddy and was looking at (future?)options to sort it. Can you get the engine casings / cylinders repainted or powder coated or are these areas too hot for powder. Presume some kind of paint must be ok as they are painted and lacquered at the factory?
    Thx any advice

  2. Do you know the paint code for the headlamp housing? I too need to touch it up. It seems to be a common problem on most 749s, 999s

  3. Try RS Paints, they have a look up function and match perfectly IMO

  4. Either wet paint or powder coat will hold up. Main thing is to get the covers bead blasted before painting replacing the bearings and seals. If not, it’ll look crap again in no time.
