Thinking of installing Ducati heated grips to my Diavel 1260s. I like the plug and play, control via the bike controls etc as compared to having an ugly switch block added to the bars. Are there any other options to consider, that also offer a neat/clean install? I understand the conversation between heated gloves and heated grips. All I need is a little warmth on the odd cold morning when it's 5 degree and I'm wearing summer gloves.
I have Ducati heated grips on my M1200, easy to use and work a treat. 3 heat levels, I have hardly ever used the high setting.
Had Ducati fitted heated grips on both my Multi’s and I have found them to be almost useless. If you wish to spend a lot of money for very little heat the Ducati ones are at the forefront
I’ve found modern Ducati heated grips warm but not nuclear. For chilly rides around 5 degrees they’ll be ok. Much colder and you’ll not get enough heat. Having them intergrated is nice and you’ll keep the standard look etc If you start using the bike in colder weather, but heated gloves, the warmth on both sides of the hand is the only way forward. We have BMWs in work and the heated grips are too hot, but you have to keep warming the back of your hands in really cold weather.
I prefer the convenience and neatness of the integrated Ducati heated grips, worth the extra IMHO. On my 1260 Multistrada I find the three heat settings perfect for my needs, mostly using the low setting. Have used higher settings on the motorway where, despite the handguards, wind chill plays a part. Low is sometimes too hot when riding in urban areas on a ride where there's a mixture of town and country riding. This means I have to cycle between the low setting and off, not a great hardship TBH. I have to say my use is usually more a case of comfort than neccesity as I tend not to ride in low temperatures. Having said that I really appreciated the grips when in Portugal and Spain in October 2019 where it was sub zero in a few places.
I had these fitted. Activated by a button on the grips so no external controller. The max setting is bloody hot, more than the Ducati grips and a lot easier to switch on and off. https://mad4bikes.co.uk/daytona-heated-motorcycle-grips-with-integrated-controller-4-settings/
I have Ducati heated grips on my Diavel 1260 and they work great, only tend to use the mid setting as High was to hot! I don't ride in - temperature's though..
Another one with original Ducati heated grips fitted to my Monster 1200s. Very disappointed in them, not very hot. I wish I'd saved the money & not bothered!
The Ducati heated grips on my 1260 were good. Just bought Ducati heated grips for the SFV4. I think the Multistrada ones were softer than the SFV4 ones
I had oxford ones on my Triumph, surprised they didn’t melt on the hottest setting. Have the Ducati ones on the supersport, much neater but not hot
Anyone fitted the genuine ducati ones themselves? My dealer couldn't get them to fit before I got the bike (1260s) might fit myself. Do they need switched on electrically by dealer - can remember my multistrada DVT heated grips did?TIA
Not sure how your 1260 loom routing differs from my 1200 but on the 1200, the petrol tank needs to come off to access the connectors. Absolute pita. Andy
I have the genuine Ducati ones on my Streetfighter. They're very, very good. The highest setting is probably too high.
Bought used 1260s which came with heated grips worked fine for me but I also have heated gear and inner gloves so I wear lightweight summer gear and glove s through winter. Put Daytona heated on my v2 amazing heat too hot on highest setting looks neater with on button built in grip rather than the box on handle bar
