I bought a set of Oxfords for my 1200DVT and wired them straight to the battery, as per the instructions. They have an automatic cut-off function once the engine stops, so no constant drain on the battery. They were much better than stock - I think they are two steps better than stock. Whichever way you wire them up they are an inexpensive and a beneficial upgrade.
I fitted this kit, https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/101831, to a Diavel, wired directly to the battery. Much finer control than trying to use the Ducati function. I did make my own bracket for the handlebar control though. Andy
What really??? Mine on the 1260 are scorching hot at medium. Even low is hot. I wonder what Ducati changed and more to the point, if they can be used on the 1200?
No, there is no compatibility. I asked that question as I noticed how much better the heated grips were during a test ride when the 1260 was launched, but the dealer told me there had been a change in suppliers and the electrics, presumably the canbus system, won't allow a straight swap.
I’ve always found the heated grips pretty good on my Multistrada 1200 DVT. I messed up the throttle though, when changing the bars so had to resort to buying a a new set of grips. If anyone wants a set with working elements let me know. The heated grips themselves work fine.
