Hello everyone, I have just purchased a Ducati Monster 796 today of which is due to arrive in 13 days. Has anyone had experience in seating height adjustments on the bike? I'm a very vertically challenged individual at 158cm and i will admit that should have gone with the Monster 696 but i was too drawn to the aesthetics of the 796. I would appreciate anyone to share any recommended adjustments to suite my height without over compromising the ride quality of the bike. Some recommendations that was shared locally that i wasnt keen on as listed below: Shaving off some padding in the seat Changing the profile of the tires Thanks in advance
Hi I am about 155cm and have had a 696 and now have a 796. My bikes shock is as low as it will go, forks dropped in yolks 10mm, seat 40mm - scooped centre and the sides scooped too (although for me still comfy believe it or not). Tried the lower seat, which is wider and therefore did not give me any benefit. I do feel the narrower seat helped quite a lot TBH. You will obviously find out for yourself and i am sure you will be absolutely fine once you get the feel you are looking for! I can confirm with same adjustments as I have mentioned the 796 feels no bigger than the 696 did. IMHO even if the move to the 796 had have been a far more difficult challenge than the breeze it proved to be I would still have done it cos the 796 looks AWESOME!!!
I've just tweaked the rear ride height the other way on my 696. I've raised it using 796/1100 suspension mounts. The 696 parts would go into a 796 and lower it without compromising suspension performance. You'd still have the option to lower further on the preload if you chose to. The front end can be lowered on the forks thru the yokes. The parts for the rear mod are pretty cheap and it's a quick enough job to fit. Theres a lower seat available from Ducati Performance that's about 20mm lower iirc also.
