I need a hand with my glove deliberations. What do you think about Held Akira RR gloves versus the venerable Racer High Racer mitts? Rev’it Jerez also caught my eye, but they’re pretty pricey and lack a finger bridge. What, if anything, do you get for the extra dosh compared to the Akira RR and High Racer?
My personal experience with the Held Titans was disappointing. I have worn two pairs, and both wore through the fingertips within a year. These are the only Held gloves that haven’t lasted long for me—possibly due to my sweaty fingertips Helpfully, the Akira RR and High Racer gloves have overlays on the fingertips, which should address the kangaroo-leather sweat-damage issue.
I recently bought some Racer HiRacer gloves to replace my previous Racer gloves. I haven't tested them to the extent that @Expat Jack did however, I have noted that they are taking a while to bed in to my hand shape and are currently not very comfy.
I guess we all have different hand shapes. My previous Racer gloves were exceptionally comfy. Indeed, it was generous of you to test Racer gloves’ crashworthiness purely for our benefit Considering the photos of your crashed Racer gloves, their Knox scaphoid protectors look potentially better than the Held’s Superfabric palm.
I have had 3 pairs of Racer gloves and they were all super comfy from day one. These ones however gave me a blister on my right finger knuckle after the first ride. I sent them back as I was sure there was a manufacturing error. Racer checked them and sent them back saying they were to spec.
