I find these plugs have a sloppy fit in the sockets. They're unnecessarily large and bulky and have no hint of water resistance. They are left over from WW2 and in my opinion have no business in modern moto applications. No matter what style of hella plug I try in the dash right hand socket on the DVT the wire is just in the way of the handlebars when turned. Equally disappointed in the hold-over cig lighter plugs. Great in the old days when the cig lighter was the only access to power but now the lighter is gone and the plug format seems to be sticking around. Again, bigger, bulkier. The usb 5 volt format serves our devices very well but for 12 volts I'm turning to DC coaxial power plugs. I have them on my heated vest and while I haven't found specs on their amperage capacity I haven't had any issues or sign of heat buildup at the plug. They are available in large sizes, larger than we see in the back of our modems and such. Tidy, snug fit, and many formats of plug and socket from cable end to panel mount. They can offer decent water resistance in my opinion.
Really? I do not find this. Mine seems to have reasonable water resistance and does not foul the handlebars.
I agree with the OP on those stupid, unsightly plugs. I've got all my accessories wired up to a relay distribution and the OEM plugs are redundant on my bike now. I have not, and will not ever use them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
