Hello From Farnham

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Andrew_S, Oct 7, 2021.

  1. I've been riding since the mid-70's and I'm not a Ducati owner at the moment, but I've always wanted a one since the days of the first 900SS and 916 but didn't get round to buying for one reason or another, so hopefully that'll change and is why I've joined the forum.

My current bikes are a 1976 Kawasaki Z900, 1970 Honda CB750 K1 and a 1972 Honda XL250 Motosport K0. I sold my 93 Firebalde a couple of years ago which had a riding position that put too much weight on my wrists and aggravated an old motocross injury (broken right wrist) that flared up every time I rode for longer than an hour, so it went after 3 years! I've posted a few photos of my bikes below, although they be of little interest.....:mask:

Anyway, I have got my sights set on a new or new'ish Supersport 950S as I understand the riding position puts less weight on the wrists, hopefully I can do some touring too. I guess the only way to find out is to test ride one at my local dealers, Snell in Alton Hants and ask questions on here. Buying a 950S means that two of my bikes will have to go to create the space, maybe the two Hondas

    Cheers, Andrew

  11. Thanks for the warm welcome folks, it appears there are a few local Ducati owners near to me, maybe our paths have crossed at local cafes such as Newlands Corner, Guilford, Loomies in East Meon, Station Cafe and the Departure Lounge in Alton?

Thanks for the £300 offer on the XL250 Gartree, but I think I'll pass........:) Oh, what does 'BINS' mean; maybe we're not from the same era after all.

Oh, can someone tell me what 'BINS' means

  12. Welcome and enjoy.

Bins - large containers for depositing garbage. :D Forum rules mean you need to post a picture of your bike(s) with a bin.

  13. Born late 58. £300 seems a reasonable offer. Just trying to make some space in the garage! Very helpful on here. Bins a long standing protocol on here. The stunning young lady insists, we are powerless to resist. She will be along shortly to ensure your absolute compliance. Welcome, enjoy.

  14. Welcome to the forum, from another local in Camberley.

  15. Newbie Andrew nice collection but you forgot your rubbish bin pictures we like bin pictures and it keeps me happy

welcome into our oldies mad house

  16. Hi to Multirider in Camberley, it seems Ducatista are closing in on me....

Thanks for trying to help clear space in my garage Gartree, much appreciated........ Mine is unrestored and with just 10,000 miles from new, so £300 would have been a reasonable offer back in 1990, but you'd be shocked at what very good XL250 K0 Motosports are fetching now - the one in my garage is one of only a handful of bikes surviving from the <150 imported into the UK in 1973 when I was a few months off 16, happy days.

Ahhhh, 'BINS', yes get it now but having recently retired from a working world where acronyms are pretty much the first language it's taking some time not to hear/see them everywhere in civvy street.

Always happy to oblige Ducbird, so here's my offering so hope these keep you happy and me off the naughty step:
