Help - 996 Fuel Pump Leak

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by RobbyS, Apr 18, 2014.

  1. Looking for some advice please! Noticed a slight fuel leak from underside of the tank whilst prepping for first ride of the year!! Have removed the fuel pump as there was slight fuel weep from the rear of the tank/pump flange.

The O ring looks absolutely fine so am tempted to put it back with a smear of vaseline or rubber grease! Any advice?? No Ducati dealers anywhere near me to get new seal and want to be out on bike tomorrow morning :(

  2. the o-rings are famous for stretching and leaking if the pump has gone in out only a couple of times, ,just replace it and use a bit of grease on reassembly to minimise the stretching

  3. Yep... definitely stretched.. won't go back on without pinching between tank and flange!! Will have to try find one from somewhere tomorrow!

  4. onyerbike/ducati Aylesbury will have them

  5. Make sure it is that and not the fuel level sender nut, if it turns out to be the nut DON'T over tighten it.

  6. Thanks for the advice, will pop down to OYB in the morning!
