Help fitting Evotech Brake Levers

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Buckers, Dec 31, 2012.

  1. Dear all,

I was a good boy all year and Santa kindly delivered a shinny new set of Evotech Levers. Just had first look at fitting the front brake lever and came accross problem removing the master cylinder plunger from the original lever. There is not enough clearance to slide the cylinder lobe out of the span adjuster seating in the original lever. Any idea's????

Also ideas and tips for clutch side which I have not even looked at yet most welcome.

Lastly, I ordered the short style levers and having second thoughts about practicality mainly clutch side so would welcome feedback on the short vs long pro's and cons.

    Cheers

  2. Sorry should add bike is 848 Evo Corse.

  3. I've got ASV shorties on my 848 and have found no issues with the clutch, but I don't find it that heavy anyway. I didn't have to reuse the original plunger so I can't help with that one sorry.

  4. My 848 with long AVS's on, i went with long cos of the clutch

  5. Should have spoke to the Chav Santa and got the cheapo ones from Chongching Provence, no problems fitting them........

  6. Did they not come with fitting instructions?

  7. Nope, no instructions. To be fair it should be a straight forward swap over but it looks as though I need to dis-assemble the original lever to remove the master cylinder plunger to swop over to the new lever.

I have decided to exchange these for the longer style anyway as my bike has R&G bar ends fitted which I think makes the short levers appear a bit too short. I will try to post some photos to show what I mean.

Also bought an Evotech tail tidy which did come with what look like ok written instructions but no diagrams or pictures. Only down side is it looks as though I have to take the back of the bike apart (including removing the cans) to fit it. Had hoped that was a thirty minute job like my old R1. I will add some comments on this when I get round to fitting it.

Thanks for comments so far. Hope people find this of interest as the Evotech levers look similar quality to ASV but are £60 per pair cheaper. Same with tail tidy which is much cheaper than R&G and re-uses ordinal indicators as well.

    More to follow.....
