Help Needed!, Now My 749 Really Won't Start

  1. I haver just tried to fire up the bike after fitting a 999s engine.

I have fitted a 1098 ecu with a 999dp map uploaded by ChrisW. When I turn the key on, the fuel pump primes and the bike won't turn over.

The dash shows "key" and "code" flashing, along with the temp display.

I only have one black key for the bike and need to get the it running for Valencia drop off on sat morn.

Apart from a big hammer, is there anything that can be done to get it running asap?

    Thanks

  2. Check that you refitted the small earth fly lead under one of the securing bolts for the ECU.

  3. Stupid question but have you connected up the starter motor

  4. Earth lead connected on ecu mounting screw/nut.

    Starter is connected.

Refitted 749 ecu and it will turn over but not fired up, as need to top up with fuel.

  5. Have you got leads for JPDiag?

  6. Just checked your PM's and the 749 ECU is a 2003 (IAW59M) so my lead plan wouldn't work.

I can flash a DP map to an IAW59M ECU and disable the immo. My problem is, I set off to Scotland 7.00am tomorrow.

If the Forum Massive can help out relaying it down to you in Kent then I can loan it to you.

  7. That would be a massive help, if someone can.

With the orig 749 ecu the bike will try to start but just won't catch to run. a few backfires etc.

I will see what numbers are on the orig ecu.

  8. I know it can mean anything but here is the ecu numbers on the 749

    IAW 59M.A8
    IAW 59M.A8/HW010/0130/DD27

    On the other side,

    12V= 038 06
    61601.047.01
    999
    DUCATI 016

  9. OK. I have flashed an IAW59M to a map for 57mm system for the 999S. Immo has been disabled.

If you can throw it open to the forum then I will make arrangements for the ECU to be available at my address in Bradford, West Yorks.

  10. Chris, thanks for all your help, the bike has started but sounds like a wet fart, as if timing is out or valves not closing.

I think I will have to throw in the towel on getting it ready and admit defeat!

Looks like I will be fitting track fairings to the 998 :( and get the tyres swapped over.

Once again, thanks for your assistance and going above the call of duty mate.;)

  11. If you send me the ECU I reflashed then I will fit it to my own 999. Test that it runs with the bike. Code the ECU to my red key and then completely remove the immo for you.

  12. Thanks Chris, is it ok to do this next week or later? No rush for it now!
