Help Please - Motorsport Engineering Degree - Work Placment

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Carbon749, Feb 5, 2018.

  1. My nephew is 2 years in to a degree in Motorsport Engineering at Oxford Brooks, with high results in his initial 2 years. He's now looking for his work placement, ideally in aerodynamics, or in CAD design as a second option. Ideally the position needs to be linked to motor sport or vehicle development / production if possible.

He is trying all the usual routes, but struggling due to the number of students and the lack of places.

Does anyone have suggestions, hints, leads etc

He is willing to move and live anywhere in the UK to complete his placement. CV and contact details available upon request.

All assistance will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Mark

  3. The other half is an engineer who does a lot of work with a motorsport engineering company (sensor development) - he will ask if they know of any opportunities.

When will your nephew be available to start? Would it be for a 1 year placement?

  4. We have a CAD design office in Leamington Spa working for JLR mainly, Spoiler Design / Exterior Trim / Power Train / Under Bonnet. No Aero work with this one - we get the 'Surface' and design everything else.
If the area suits I can give details of who to contact and have a word with the Tech Director down there.

  6. He has passed the initial stage with JLR, and has been asked to submit a video of his work. But, any help, guidance etc will be greatly appreciated. please PM me.

Brilliant, He will be out of Uni around June /July for 12 months. He is looking for a 12 month placement.

    All help appreciated.

    Thanks, will do.

Thanks everyone ... all very appreciated.

I'm convinced we will see this "kid" in a high level motor sport position one day. What other 15 year old kid, volunteers to work 2 nights a week, in a barn, in all weathers, on the restoration of an old steam engine, so that he can get a practical knowledge of engineering principals .... trust me, seriously motivated from a very young age.

    Thanks again everyone.
