748 Help Please - Stuff Up Fitting Aftermarket Levers

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by Dremmel, Apr 19, 2019.

  1. So I bought a pair of Strada 7 levers for the 748R. Put the brake on no trouble. Then to the clutch and have to remove the actuating pin from the barrel on the OEM lever to put in the newie. Tried the little Philips head and clearly not going to move (used plenty of WD40).

Next step was to grip the pin, slowly turn the lever and .... shear. So stuck with pictured.

Assume I have to get hold of replacement barrel and pin - anyone know where or happen to have one lying about?

  3. There’s a very small grub screw in the barrel that locks the pin in place... 2mm Allen key to undo it.

  4. Overlooking that is what has brought me undone. Mind you I'm just trying to loosen that now and it won't give either! Will take my good time over that.
