1198 Help With Unknown Plug ..

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by The Hammer, Aug 8, 2021.

  1. Changed the timing belts on my 2010 1198 recently, and moved the radiator to get to the front sparkplug. As I did so this red plug pinged loose from somewhere.
Once belts were done I put everything back together but I'll be darned if I can find where this plug goes!
It's ziptied to the radiator bracket, has its own fuses and goes back past the engine and into the fusebox. Bike starts and runs fine. Could it be an old tracker or immobilizer cable?
I'm hoping not to tear the bike down further, can anyone help?!

  2. That’s an old BikeTrac connector.

  3. Thanks Nelly. Thought you'd know.
Guess I can remove it altogether now?

  4. Yep. If it's been fitted well, or correctly, then it should be spliced into the loom somewhere. Just make sure if you cut it out the cables are made good. Ones live, ones a switched live and the last an earth.
