drop the oil today and with the end of the gear selector spring, spoke to the shop and apparently its quite common. I had the crankcase cover off anyways and sure enough spring is broke question is..can i replace the spring without removing the fly wheel? I can push the gear selector to expose the pin with the circlip, but not sure if i'd be able to back the pin out and and then get a new spring on. dont really want to take the fly wheel off, would need the tool (which I dont have) to hold the crank, and also dont have an impact gun to get the nut off, in addition the tightenting torque is 360NM? my wrench doesnt go that far. the ducati tech also mentioned that i would need an indexing tool to reset the gear linkage correctly, another tool i havent got.. might be cheaper to stick the thing in a van and drop it off somewhere they actually have all the tools and actually know what they are doing... / Cheers Dave
The flywheel definitely has to come off. You can get away without the indexing tool if you scribe marks before dismantling that you can align to when refitting the selector assembly.
