How Do I Get The Fuel Out My Ie Tank?

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by richgilb, Sep 12, 2016.

  1. The tank is off, the tubes are off, the filler cap is open. No matter which way I turn, shake or slosh the bloody thing, there is a litre at least that won't come out. Help!

  2. Er, take the petcock off?...........Or even simpler, get a small bore hose and siphon it out.

  3. I don't have a spanner on me big enough. Siphoning is not getting the last bit out. It's got 4 possible exit points currently and is being well stubborn

  4. A 900mm length of windscreen washer hose should be able to get into the lowest corner easily, if you have angled the tank to get all the fuel into one point.........and get the tank high enough above the other end of the hose.

  6. Rich,
Is there not a corner drain hole? There is on the Carby........

  7. Couldn't you use the fuel pump to pump it out?

  8. Put an old pillow case in and soak it up (leave the end hanging out though :)

  9. Leave it in

  10. I have cut the wires. It's off the bike. I stuffed some sheetin there but it doesn't work. I'm sending it with the tubes taped up and wrapped in a bin liner so Parcelforce don't smell anything dodgy.

  11. Lucky you cut the green wire first............if you had cut the white wire, well...........

...........that would have been the end of the world.....

(Why did you have to cut the wires and why couldn't you get the fuel out?...........FFS?)

  12. I'm pretty sure that's what I used on my SSie, but I guess Ducati may have changed the tank design from one batch to another? Either that or the fuel gauge sensor opens up a big hole when removed. Or as per TT600:

  13. hmm yep should be a drain bolt in rear left corner on the tank
