How make a solar trickle charger?

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by blufoot, Oct 21, 2012.

  1. Does anyone know the parts needed and knowledge of building a solar powered trickle charger?

I remember there used to be a thread on Ducatisti about it, hopefully written by someone who is now on here...

  2. Buy one from Maplins?, they are not that expensive

  3. I found those just after posting but I really don't know what I'm buying, there seems to be a few options, what would I need for a 749..

  4. Well that's kind of what I'm asking :)

    I know nothing

  5. Any of those will do for a bike battery, I use larger ones for my cars as these are left for long periods without driving away from a power source. But maybe you would be better with an optimate type charger if you are leaving the bike over the winter and have access to a power socket.

  6. No power socket unfortunately, if there's no difference I'll try the cheaper one.

  7. I used the oxford one last winter and the duc was ok.as long as its charged when u put it away it Will keep it topped up,but won't charge it if its down .

  8. Dont you need sunlight for those things?

  9. Yes and no.work better if lots of sun so lets forget that and get a long extension lead.

  10. 10 floors long...
