Article in this weeks Shorlist featuring Ducati drawing of how to pull a wheelie. Can't say I've tried it yet on the 848. Has anyone been to a wheelie school?
Brilliant, however, I don't close the throttle, I simply open the throttle, 'blip' the clutch and off you go. It feels so alien and like you have no control at first, but you get used to it and won't be able to stop after a while, sort of like getting your knee down haha.
You guys are good most of my wheelies on monster are because of crest or bump in the road, over eager start, accelerating to hard on 2nd gear or going to fast on a naked bike on motorway without ducking. Last one is an issue as front gets light 90mph indicated so easy to get there.
Years ago I used to wheelie my six cylinder honda every where result was cam shafts nackered . I then took to wheelie my 500 yamaha 2 stroke , cant remember the model , at least a mile on the back wheel . Result was 4 weeks in hospital . Not to be beaten my brand new fireblade was wheelied every where . Once to many and I reshaped the top of the tank when it came into contact with the road. 1300 suzuki was the next to suffer . I have never , deliberately , wheelied any thing else , better to keep both wheels on the ground . I have a good friend that has a total of 10 weeks hospitalization and he`s the best I have ever seen at it. Can wheelie his 1300 suzuki standing up at over 140mph , german autobahn , Even he has given up. It will end in disaster if you keep at it I promise.
it will if you push it. take your time and start small and you should have problems. stand-up's are more risky as you cant cover the rear brake..... could write a whole guide but tbh Id rather post a vid so here ya go How to wheelie a Motorcycle - YouTube
