I enjoyed that I had an idea from a programme I watched which I can’t recall Engineering was fascinating in that era Lifts being pulled by ropes and working on pipes underground with a steel top over you so the traffic could run Thanks CJ
Yeah, good read that. I had no idea either. But I can see the logic. Pressure be it static or dynamic, is energy. Modern day ships and rigs (albeit a smaller scale) use a similar system. Almost exclusively engineered by Norwegian company Framo.
Also how Bristol docks (lock gates, swing bridges, etc) was done originally. All (water) hydraulics...
