Has anyone on here had any experience with one of these, or anything similar? dc3000 Standard HHO Hydrogen Generator for cars Is it one of those things that promise lots but deliver nothing, or is there something in it ?
Go for it and then you can tell us if you can get more energy out of it than you put in. I very much doubt that you will as you never see this stuff used by any motor manufacturers. But one thing is for sure, you will have lined the pocket of someone.
Sounds like bollox to me. If you make Hydrogen fuel from electrolysis of water the maximum amount of energy you can get back by burning the hydrogen is slightly less than the energy that was used to split the water. There can be no net gain. Water sprays were used in some internal combustion engines, notably WW2 Messerschmitt 109's, to cool the ingoing air and improve combustion efficiency. This appears completely different.
I was kind of guessing that the replies would be what they are. Of course the manufacturers say that the reason that car makers don't fit them is that they are all in league with the oil companies to maximise profits - but they would say that. It looked like pseudo-scientific mumbo-jumbo to me, I just wondered if anyone actually had experience of using one.
@Pete1950 Comment #5 That law could be applied equally to my "Crap on the internet" thread, or your Deepak Chopra thread...
Why on-board hydrogen generators won't boost your mileage Why Water Won't Improve Your MPG: A PM and Dateline NBC Investigation It seems that other people agree... Although one of the proponents did say "as seen on Fox News TV" - oh, so that must be true then...
Car manufacturers are desperate to find ways of reducing fuel consumption and reducing exhaust emissions. They are trying everything they can think of to meet ever-tighter regulations, including cheating. Does anyone seriously think car makers would deliberately refuse to utilise an effective, practical, and legal method of obtaining an advantage?
IIRC water / mist via the inlet tract also apparently makes an engine run a little richer for some unknown reason (to me).........
