Hypermotard Evo Sp Marzzochi Fork Rebuild.

  1. Has any one done that? Fork seal has gone on mine. I've done the seals on the ohlins in my rsv4 which weren't too hard.... Wondered if I needed any special tools and.... Any tips for seals... Oem or aftermarket better? And are they as stupidly expensive as rsv4.... From recollection mine were about 80 quid... Then found out there were better aftermarket ones that were a fraction of the cost!

  2. I hate stripping forks......

Have you not got the workshop manual ? That should show you what's needed...

  3. Think so... Forgot about that! I've got the tool for pushing the seals back up...

  4. Just found the 1100 796 html manual on my tablet... I can see the teardown but not sure if it's for the marzzochi forks although they're pretty close to the ohlins...

  5. I think generally it's the same with most USD forks....

One of the best tools I bought was for getting the right air gap at the top of the fork after refilling....

  6. What tool is that then?

  7. Set the ring to tip at the desired air gap size....overfill fork with oil....pull the syringe and when the oil gets lower and reaches the tip of the tube it won't suck no more out.....perfect size air gap

  8. Have you tried one of those "seal mate"? Just done my GSXR and bouncing up and down seems ok but not been for a ride yet........

  9. I'd rather just change them as I'd just be thinking they're gonna go soon everytime I rode anywhere....

If i know something is wrong I have to fix it ha ha ha

  10. Yep... Same as me... Stripping the forks would be a good thing.... Ive a funny feeling the forks have probably got the original oil in them...

  11. And thereaches the fun can start again....

Fitted the recommended oil weight to my ZX6R and the forks were like oak beams....

Found out that not all fork oil has the same viscosity for weight rating....doesn't matter much with higher ratings but when using 2.5wt or 5wt it makes a difference

    See here....

Comparative Oil Weights Table - Transmoto

I used the workshop manual recommended stuff even though it was a bastard to find and they worked great after......

  12. I'll rebuild, get one of those level thingys and get the oil which ducati recommend... Looked at that list and there's no ducati's listed... Or marzzochi forks...

  13. It should say in the workshop manual which fork oil they recommend.....

Edit....Just found this page in the Evo SP user manual........

  14. Well fuck me.... I didn't think fork seals could cost more than ohlins up here we are... 60 quid for one seal and dust cover... Does anyone have a fork seal driver I can borrow... I've got one but it doesn't fit the hyper...if not I'll have to order one...

  15. £60 !

Fuck me....at least Dick Turpin dressed up with a mask before he robbed you...

  16. Yep... That's what riders want.... Found one in France for 40...still fucking steep though...
