are deaf people nocturnal these days? Used to have a girlfriend (believe it or not) who was deaf.. She kept normal hours... Why at this time of night do they put progs on with an over animated fucktard in the corner of me telly doin sign?

Sadly a sign of the times, no pun intended. Prime time telly watchers are very intolerant of what they see as an impedement to their watching pleasure, same with subtitles. I qualified as a BSL communicator many years ago and back then television was something the deaf community I worked with were excluded from, pictures but no engagement. Things are changing slowly but if you are deaf, use sign language and want to watch telly, you need a recorder or be prepared to live odd hours. Andy
