I Need To Get Out..............

  1. The weather's fine bikes good, everything's ready to go. But the lockdown......

Like all of us I'm not getting any younger, another year makes a huge difference to my physical abilities. Will I still be riding in another year, I hope so but I'm not 100% certain.

I'm very frustrated at not being able to go motorbiking, I just love riding my bike. I'm not likely to sneak out as I fully realise the reason for the lockdown and I'm not convinced I could withstand a bout of Covid 19.

Any of you feel the same?

  2. Keep wanting to get out riding in this great weather but then something stops me & I can’t help thinking that anyone that sees me will think I’m a selfish knob head !

  3. BIKER SERIOUSLY INJURED ON NON-ESSENTIAL JOURNEY DURING COVID-19

WITH the current restrictions in place during COVID-19, we are all faced with only being able to use our vehicles for essential reasons. This is a cautionary tale of why nipping off for a quick blast could be a very bad idea.
The rider in question was riding in the hills in East Lancashire at the time of the collision. The person then looks to have collided with a wooden fence at the side of the road, ejecting himself from the bike and wedging the machine under the fence.
After the air ambulance was called, the rider was taken to hospital where he said to have sustained serious back injuries in the incident.

A spokesman for the Lancashire Police said on Twitter:

“Motorcycle RTC in the hills of East Lancashire, serious back injuries sustained … Police, Ambulance and Air Ambulance deployed … The journey? Non-essential.”

So if the police were on the scene as advised, that probably three or four officers on the ground from them. An ambulance too, that’ll be another couple of NHS staff out when they really shouldn’t have been. Then add to that the air ambulance, which is a crew of around four people and costs about £12,000 a day to run. That ride out has probably cost the UK tax-payer a lot of cash that at this time, really didn’t need to be spent.

When can I ride during COVID-19?
    • Only ride or driver when shopping for essential shopping
    • Picking up medicine for yourself or a vulnerable person
    • When travelling to and from work that absolutely cannot be done from home

  4. I’d be happy just to take the car out for a couple of hours tbh.

  5. That seems quite lacking in information?

  6. To be perfectly honest it’s real tempting, I won’t be riding until after the lockdown. I’ve even a get out of jail letter authorising my travel but I’ll do it in my van. I don’t want to divert medical attention from the real victims of this virus.

If you can see some of the antics of some car drivers I’ve seen they’re driving like nothing going to be coming the other way.

I’ll add this though I won’t judge anyone that does I’ve seen a few out today and can hear them when I’m in my garden. I just assume they’re on an essential journey or volunteer work, makes it easier not to think I’ll of folk.

  8. Y'all realise don't you, that there is never a time when a pleasure-ride motorcycle accident does not divert limited NHS resources from other worthy causes?

And that the NHS is always up against it, as evidenced by waiting times in A&Es and waiting lists for non-emergency essential treatments?

    Right?

  9. I did TBH go ragging my Cooper S out round the B roads on my way to dropping my mothers food that’s about as close to fun to be had. I could have used A roads but it’s slammed down on coil overs with a very loud one off exhaust.

  10. I think we do but there are bad times and there is bad timing, end of the day it’s down to the individual to make that value call. Certainly not a decision to be made by peer pressure one way or the other.

However I’m minded of the Surgeon who stated that in quieter times they try and save a badly injured leg at the moment 5hey’ll just lop it off to save time. Your life your limbs you decide...no?

  11. I had to look to see where you are.

I was following an orange cooper that was doing 10mph with stupid pooping and banging coming from the exhaust.

Leaving a gap in traffic, pulling away, pop pop pop pop....then repeat 5 times.

  13. I can't see what's wrong with a short trickle down the road, rucksack on your back for bread and milk, you also have adequate PPE as long as it's a shop that allows you to keep your lid on.

  14. Mines Dark Silver Black roof twin pipes out the back not in the centre out to each side, only time it cruises at 10 is if I make a wrong turn into the roads on my estate that have speed obstacles. I leave the noisey bits for gear changes.

  15. Your call, can’t recall where I read it. As I stated but you appear to either have missed it or mis read my rationale. I’m not fussed if folk ride or not it’s their call to make not mine. So call me a bullshiner all you want again your call.

  16. It was an orange works.

Silly boy thinks it's cool. Especially pulling onto the A2 across the chevrons, then into the 3rd lane with no other traffic in the way..

Was going to tell him his car is fucked. Like people do with my Ducati.

  18. Hmmm. Been thinking.

If I go out on my bike, I am obliged to head home due to the restrictions. On that basis, my journey is essential as if I don't ride my bike, I cannot get home.

I think this might be a winner. In fact, I'm certain of it.
