3 of us will be flying to the island this year for a day trip on the Monday of race week. Does anyone have experience of then using local buses to get around from the airport to watch the 2 races that are on that day ? we land at 10.00 & fly back at 6.30. Douglas would be the obvious destination probably for the start/finish etc.
The roads will be closed, be 10.00 I don't know how this affects the busses, but you'll miss the start of the first race. You should do some online research to find the nearest stop to the circuit and watch from there then move in the lunch break. Have a good time
Hire a car at the airport, it will be much easier than farting around on a bus. Where are you flying from?
No problem catching a bus into Douglas. Might be an idea to jump off before the bus arrives at the terminal at somewhere near the course, say Quaterbridge if time is an issue.
I'm assuming that the buses can run around the island on the roads that arn't affected by the races ?
Yes, there is an excellent bus service on the roads that are unaffected by the racing . They run extra buses during TT fortnight. You have very limited time, so might be an idea to catch a taxi which are plentiful.
So the plan so far is to get a taxi to Douglas, where should we head for to see some racing ? is the pit area open between the races for the general public ?
