I Thought I'd Avoided The Ebay "chancers" But...

  1. no chance.

    I have advertised my Hypermotard 796 at the lowest price I'm prepared (£3695) to consider at the moment.

    The price is so low that it's the lowest of it's model, not only on Ebay but on any online sales site by a wide margin - over 80 others are much more expensive.

    It's in excellent condition - not far off looking like a new bike...it is also very low mileage, runs beautifully and needs nothing apart from a belts service in the next few months (refelcted in the low price).

    However my first five messages from "prospectives were;

    1. Hi will you accept any less than list price for the bike?
      Thanks
    2. I was wondering is the price was negotiable, thanks
    3. Will you be willing to be flexible on price?
    4. Hi M8 wots your best price? (This one is my favourite)
    5. What would you want for the bike if I paid cash, will you accept £3000 cash (£700 less than the obvious low price)

    Ye gods!

    How do you deal with these people who never asked any questions about the bike and certainly never viewed it?

    I'm begining to wish I had asked for £400more just to be able to come down but I'm realising they don't want my bike...these are amatuer dealers who want to for £2k and put it back on Ebay for £4k...

    Where am I going wrong?

  2. Is this a veiled attempt at trying to sell your bike on here without being a subscriber?

    Thread moved btw.

  3. I guess there isn't the demand for old bikes that some people like to think there is.
    Not that much demand for nearly-new bikes either as PCP-type deals make buying new quite attractive to many and often cheaper, initially at least, than using a chunk of cash.

    Just tell what your lowest price is and leave it there, wait until someone wants to buy it for that price.

  4. No not really El Toro - I tried to be discrete as possible!
    But I've taken out any identifiers just in case,
    It's more a case of a common problem we all have when selling really , getting the price right and knowing the negociation process;

    Thanks

    Ross

  14. Why? I haven't stirred anywhere else :innocent: but it was a serious question :)

  15. Because the old package is incompatible with the new forum platform.

    Now if you'd like to fund the new package of emojis then pm me and I'm sure we can do a deal :)
