749 Idler And Tensioner Bearing Torque Setting

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Blakey749s, Jan 13, 2018.

  1. I'm in the middle of replacing the idler and tensioner bearings on my 05 749s, I read the torque settings are 26nm for both but the idler seemed very tight, anyone know? Or can give me a link to a manual?

Thanks a lot for any help

  2. Blakey, the 999 factory manual states 25Nm with a tolerance of 22-28Nm on greased threads (grease A lithium based) for the eccentric nuts. Are you sure you are using the Nm scale and not lb/ft scale on the torque wrench

  3. Sorry, I meant the idler felt tight coming off, like it had been tightened to more than 26nm previously. Will stick with 26nm on the rebuild then.

    Thanks :upyeah:
